About Us

Our Hut is an architectural education charity based in Stockwell working in schools and local communities to deliver courses of architecture workshops.

Our Hut was founded in 2004 by Lucy Lavers, Judy Ovens and Suzanna Prizeman, who bring together a combination of experience in architecture, design and education.

What we do

Our Hut's aim is to equip future generations to get involved in shaping positive sustainable environments. We inspire and educate young people and local communities through programmes of interactive workshops about the built environment.

Dr Jim Harris

Dr Jim Harris is an Andrew W Mellon Foundation Teaching Curator at the Ashmolean, Oxford. He is an art historian specializing in the sculpture of the fourteenth to sixteenth centuries. He also has a strong interest in contemporary art and architecture.

Sophie Henderson

Sophie Henderson Former immigration barrister, an immigration judge, and now the Director of the Migration Museum Project which aims to represent the tales, the emotion, and the history that have gone into shaping our national fabric.

Xanthe Sylvester Valentine

Xanthe Sylvester Valentine worked as an administrative assistant in the Arts Council; then as Editorial Assistant at Time Out magazine. She is a volunteer for the charity Springboard, which gives one-to-one literacy support lessons to disadvantaged children in Lambeth primary schools.

Eleanor Purser

Eleanor Purser is currently Executive Head of Economic Development, Planning and Sustainability for London Borough of Sutton. She has spent 11 years in planning, regeneration and urban development. She has experience of curating public exhibitions with an urban theme and has public sector funding expertise.

Nicky Road

Nicky Road has worked for many years developing community education programs for families with young children and in promoting children’s rights. She has also worked with local authorities in implementing early years and play policies in schools, the private sector and community settings.
